While not a true god, Ishaar has rose to power thanks in part to a large group of Lizardmen who have started following him on the Isle of Seraz.

Ishaar's origins are shrouded in mystery. When the lizardfolk tribes first arrived on Seraz, Ishaar was already there. He resides within the depths of the isle's active volcano, issuing harsh directives to his lizardfolk followers.

The precipts of Ishaar are simple: "He with the most power, makes the rules". Aquire power by any means possible, and leave no living enemy alive to oppose you. Work with others to achieve power, or to avoid destruction. Know your enemy, learn his weaknesses and crush him to dust. Ishaar's High Priests are among the mightiest of his followers; masters of martial prowess and mystical arts. Many of his followers are encouraged to learn a variety of militant skills to better overwhelm and destroy their foes. Ishaar wages a constant battle with his rival, Waas, for dominion of the lizardfolk tribes of Seraz. Those lizardfolk tribes that have sworn fealty to Ishaar call themselves the Ishaari, or "Followers of Ishaar".

He promises power and strength in return for blood sacrifices. In the center of the city of Ishaarastlan, a mighty ziggurat towers above the rest of the metropolis. From it's peak, a river of blood flows to a pool at it's base. Only the high priests of Ishaar know why he needs so much blood. This need for blood is why Ishaar cast a powerful enchantment around Seraz. Called "Ishaar's Curse", it causes ships to wreck upon Seraz's shores, supplying a constant stream of slaves and sacrifices for Ishaar's eternal burning hunger for blood.
