I LOVE playing evil...Always have...NE is the easiest to play..IMOO. I have not ever gone around killing NPCS. With the exception to a stray Dog here, Raven there, etc.. One reason is it is just plain Dumb. Plus Where I am trying to go LE...Just killing npcs will get me going the opposite way.
But over all I think evil is like someone said...puiting your needs above everyone elses for no other reason but for self gratifacation. And I think it is a bulls-eye by saying that evil like to remain hidden not out in the open. Evil to remain on top remains in secret, manipulating, etc. If it comes out it usually gets destroyed. LET EM ROLL...and Join us on the Darkside.....WE have cookies....*snickers*

For me being evil is not killing NPC or PC. This is about getting what you want and do not care about others. Being Evil is easy... but it starts to be hard when you enter location where are 10 "good" guys, that wants to kill you because they heard that you are evil. And this is great opportunity to show your rp skills to avoid "already lost fight". It's like proving you are not a camel. You say you aren't, they say you are, and you are only one.

My view is that some alignments are hard to RP out correctly, like I struggle to play lawful. Most of it comes down to knowing what alignments actually are. I can think of alot of evil chars who are played brilliantly. NE being my favourite. Things like a disregard for people even taking a frustration out on an animal, all can mean a bad streak without having to slaughter every NPC on the server. Evil can be you serve your self, a "master" or some greater purpose. There are so many ways to be evil it is great fun... I love my NE vampire on another server, she can be sweet but nasty...

I wasnt suggesting the topic was ridiculous, just pointing out what i've seen happen with a hell of a lot of low level newbie characters, both here and on avlis.BrunoKnotslinger wrote:I fail to see (a) how this topic is ridiculous, and (b) how Al's post suggested in any way that the topic is ridiculous.Marcomartin wrote: I personaly support Alphonso's post, this topic is ridiciules.

If you have to run around in black and make evil sounding emotes, you're not being evil, you're taking the easy way out. If you have to rely on being higher level, or killing NPCs you're not being evil, you're taking the easy way out.
I've seen amazingly well played evil PCs who wear bright colours, are friendly, and even stroke puppies. When your reputation goes before you, and people are scared of you ICly despite never having seen you do anything wrong. thats when you know you're playing evil well.
I've seen evil played so well that lvl 30 PCs have changed their plans to avoid passing a lvl 10 evil PC based purely on his reputation.
That is proper evil

Its hard to believe in that, i saw some evil Chars, but they were mostly lvl 25+ so no doubt that others are afraid, when i was lvl 10 there was no reputation because almost all players don't respect you IC'ly, no mater what you do. Besides feeding puppies don't scare othersAlphonse wrote:BrunoKnotslinger wrote:I've seen evil played so well that lvl 30 PCs have changed their plans to avoid passing a lvl 10 evil PC based purely on his reputationMarcomartin wrote: I personaly support Alphonso's post, this topic is ridiciules.

What i mean by "ridicules" is- If you don't know how to play evil char well then don't, this is the matter of idea. I don't want to see now evil players in whit, with small sweet kittens talking about weather or their clothes fancy new shape. My personal advice for playing LE is to read some fantasy books (not Salvatore one or Harry Potter), it will help more than some forum debate.

The comments on this thread are not a debate on subject as I see it. They are purely a discussion on peoples concept of evil. Everyone is entitled to thier personal view and if something is written in a book does not make it the only way or the right way. As this posting has to do with the player's concept, any point mentioned is valid.Marcomartin wrote: l advice for playing LE is to read some fantasy books (not Salvatore one or Harry Potter), it will help more than some forum debate.

WOW..Ok Marco...SCHOOLS IN.. No fantasy book needed..its called the good old dictionary.
EVIL: Morally bad or wrong; wicked: an evil tyrant.
Causing ruin, injury, or pain; harmful: the evil effects of a poor diet.
Characterized by or indicating future misfortune; ominous: evil omens.
Bad or blameworthy by report; infamous: an evil reputation.
Characterized by anger or spite; malicious: an evil temper.
this is a dictionary defination... And yet there are areas not covered..And the reason is....HUMANS devise ways that are unthought of. Evil can manifest in more than a million forms. A truely evil deed, may not be seen that way by others since they don't understand...yet the motive for that deed was only because it furthered the doers intent. "An example"
I help you from being slain by a mob of angery villigers...knowing full well I was making sure you lived until the day my employer wanted you dead..which the set date had not come yet."
So I ask you if I am befriending you....or you think that I am...by saving you...ensuring you are safe etc...Is it evil..yes...WHY ...just because you don't see it and no one else does...I am still planning your death on MY terms and just ensuring that you will suffer by my hand the way someone paid me to do so. And when the time came....BOOM you died exactly how it had been planned MONTHs/Years earlier...and the only clue as to who or how is the symbol that reprents the killer...or the killers want to be known persona...
DID YOU read that in any of your books...no....Darn...Well before you criticize...you need to learn to play evil yourself...EVIL is everywhere...and hmmm maybe your friends are evil....are they really your friends..Think before you write something please...and do not knock people because they don't do it your way. And by the way R. A. Salvatore can teach you about evil characters better than any..Thanks for listening to my Drival everyone...
