Server crashing?

As most of us know, the server crashed hard Sunday and Monday. I was IG both times and both times I thought someone was trying to log in. Things got really laggy then BOOM.

If this sort of thing can be caused by a player logging in, is there anything we can do as players to minimize the risk?

I did notice last night that the last log on was a new character that more than likely was created just moments before in the golem. Just an observation.

Its a similar problem to one we had 3 or 4 months ago i think. We're looking into it
