new computer help

Post by Jinx » Thu Nov 19, 2009 1:23 pm

Well the good news is I have a lot more work now. The bad is my cats will not have me around as much to sleep on my keyboard when I am trying to play. I would like some advice in picking a new work laptop. The work side is very simple and will not need too many programs. Streets& trips and some standard Microsoft programs. The most important thing is finding a NWN laptop with good battery life for when I am working. I can get a lot of Microsoft programs for free so having them installed is not an issue. I did think of getting a Mac and putting NWN on the PC side. Any thoughts?
Thanks

I've had no trouble out of my HP laptops. i prefer to go through the website and custom build them. As far as getting a mac, I personally would not since the majority of software is for pc's and having to install windows on top of another operating system would be to much trouble when you could just get a pc and not have the hassle.

I have a macbook pro and run windows on it. It works pretty well; windows is stable on it and I don't have any problems with it (those times you see me vanishing aren't the computer crashing, it's our provider dropping our internet- again- ) The machine is also small, light, doesn't get too hot to keep from actually putting in my lap when I play, and has a light up keyboard in case you play in the dark.

However, it's also more expensive, not only because the mac laptops tend to be expensive, but because you need to buy a copy of windows as well as buying the laptop with the copy of mac os. I can really only recommend it if you have some reason you wanted a mac anyway.
It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not weakness, that is life.
