Game Time as related to Real Time

If I have my dates right, Noor's birth was one RL year ago as of 01/10/2008. So how old does that make our little demonspawn?

I know the passage of time is not a strong consideration IG for most characters. However, due to Noor's backstory/creation, it is of some RP importance.

If we follow that every RL week is one IG month (since that's how we pay rent), then 4.3 years have passed and she is chronologically--not physically!--a little over 4 years old.

Is this correct? Should we use the 1 RL week = 1 IG month as a baseline?

Thor and I calculated this last night.

If you go by the 1 IG hour = 4 RL minutes, you get the following:

If an IG year is 365 days, then 1 RL year is 15 IG years exactly. If an IG year is 360 days (12 months, 30 days ea. for simplicity - I don't recall how it tracks time), then 1 RL year is 15 IG years, 2 IG months, and 15 IG days.

Where do you get the 1 IG hour = 4 RL minutes calculation? And if that's the calculation we should be using, why is 1 RL week = 1 IG month?

That's simply how much real time it takes for 1 IG hour to pass... 4 RL minutes.

1 hour IG = 4 mins RL
1 day IG = 96 mins RL
1 week (7 days) IG = 11.2 hours RL
1 month (28 days) IG = 1.86 days RL
1 year (336 days) IG = 22.4 days RL

Thanks for the clarification. If nothing else, we know she is an adult chronologically as well as physically.

I can see why people pretty much ignore aging in the game. It's well-nigh impossible to keep up with the RP development for a character when you have to make sure to add 16+ years of mental and social development into a character you play for less than an RL month (total playtime) in an RL year. (Stuff that simply isn't happening IG.)

I think both players and DMs prefer ignoring the fast passage of time. If we didn't ignore it, some events will have lasted YEARS! (For example, it might be a tad embarrassing if rescuing the princess from the evil goblins takes almost 16 game years.) heehee

On a more familiar note, using this time calculation, Goldie was pregnant for approximately 4 YEARS!

Yikes!

Far better to know the calculations and use when/if needed (thanks to those who supplied them), mostly sticking to estimates IG.
