How about an enhancement to cloaks or helms or gauntlets like the one offered on Mikona where you can add elemental resistance or protection from death magics of 5/-. They have vampiric regeneration on one world for weapons and armor enhancements. The weapon is just not IC for a good character and perhaps not a neutral one and so many are left out. I would also suggest that it can be done only once per character.

A book quest would be interesting too. Players/characters like the idea of being able to have a custom book made for them. Say something of no more than once every three months could the request be made. Length of the text and customization of the description would play a part on what was to be collected. Items required should be Arkaz only as well. The only thing I would object to is character A asking character B to collect components XY&Z. I guess some specific drops could be flagged to the PC hide to only activate for that character.

I see the idea is to have characters play here and not just run in and out to drop of thing like potions or scrolls to a collector.

You should never have gotten me thinking on this.

There is a quest in Elysia where you collect raw materials for an NPC. The components become progressively more difficult and rare to find along with more dangerous. After you collect enough you choose from a select listing of items such as cloaks, boots or armor. Once the quest is done you cannot go back. I believe there is also one there for books as well.

I know the Maria quest had crossed my mind also. Perhaps with drops that only occur on Arkaz. That would encourage more players, which I think is generally a good thing.

I have a monk with 7 attacks, 5 with a redgate kama, 2 with a dissolving kama and monk speed of plus 30% but the lag generated by the fog has left her dead or nearly dead many times. The monsters generated there are not too over powering for her by no means but the lag only affects the PC not her attackers. I feel the awsome visial effects of the fog is way over shadowed but the overwelming lag.

Hi, two questions:

1. Do you also have troubles in other areas with fog in NWN, or just that particular one?
2. Have you seen if lowering your video settings reduces the problem?

even when i played on my lap top or dest top, The graveyard on arkaz was the only place I have been so lagged that i can not target items to pick up or fight.
good tactics will always win over sheer numbers

there are 2 book quests, one in the wilds and one in elysia

each you can only turn in 10 books a RL week, but in the wilds one if you give him 80-100 books you get a (undropable) reading glass, using that to read 10 books a week (if you read more you go blind from eyestrain) you can earn stat incresments in lore and int. i think its like 1 lore point for the first 6 sets of 10 you read, then 1 int for the last 2 sets of 10. after that there arnt any rewards

When I first posted I felt as I posted but now is a bit of a different story. I see a decent sized DM staff but rarely see one. I think the updates being done to all the modules look great but I see an ungoing problem starting to surface. Events start and die without a word. PM sit in the outbox for months at a time never being read.
The player base continues to shrink and several of the people who used to play several hours a day play only a few hours a week. Dungeons updated that now require a large group to enter where you could enter and solo a bit when alone. Unless you are an epic in the upper levels it is getting hard to find anyghing to do.

I must echo Daemona I'm afraid in terms of the quests. I was at least 15th lvl when I brought Aria here for the first time and I've gone on a few dungeon crawls with a group of folks. I hate to compare Hala to Arkaz (as they are both different servers and have a different player base overall), but there is more to do on Hala for lower level characters than on Arkaz. We have a few static quests that we all show the "newbies" to and they do them until they feel they are more able to handle the "dangers of the road" so to speak. I'd like to see that on Arkaz.

In answer to the last part of Daemona's statement about the player base, I think because of the time of year (school is back in session, the holidays are coming up) players are not around as much. I noticed that last year on Hala, but after the New Year, things picked up again. Sometimes RL does come first.

But overall, the Team here is wonderful and helpful as are the players. Arkaz is a great place to come play. And Aria will have to come visit soon again. And if you're all really good  , I hopefully will bring my other character here to visit. He just has to find the way first. :D
