Hi, River is a level 7 cleric now and just got Greater Magic Weapon as one of her 4th level spells - however when she casts it, it only has the same effect as Magic Weapon - a first level spell - does.

She has cast both and the same information is on her sword when she examines it:

Magic Weapon
Enchantment Bonus +1 (Temporary)

Greater Magic Weapon
Enchantment Bonus +1 (Temporary)

as I understand it the GMW should be +1 and 1 for each 3 levels, so, she is lvl 7 cleric....shouldn't that be +3 bonus with GMW now?

The spell is working as it should. It begins counting the levels from when you are able to cast the spell. So at 10th level you will get a +2 for GMW.

All CoPaP worlds (Arkaz/Avlis/Tairis/Hala) use a very modified magic system - there are many changes from the original magic system which you may be used to from NWN modules. CoPaP's magic system has new spells, spells changed to be more flexible, and spells changed to scale better to 40 levels. GMW falls in to the last of those categories.

On nearly all CoPaP worlds it is +1 per 5 levels - with the exception of Hala where it is +1/4 levels. Hala does not use militant bonuses, however, where as other CoPaP worlds do.
