An Oldbie Seeking Info

Post by Callista » Wed Dec 24, 2014 8:41 am

Hi,

I'm getting a new comp soon for Christmas, and it's been like, a decade since I've played NWN 1. I've the Diamond edition on CD so I should be good to go for NWN1, right? What I can't find, whilst poking around the forum, is the haks I'd need to play on Arkaz. Is that info in Wiki or someplace?

Also, since I didn't see a "New Player Introduction" thread anywhere, I should say I've never played PnP DnD, so those of you who are accustomed to things that I might not do, please bear with me. :-) If I screw up, do not hesitate to ask "wtf?" I'll do my best to explain why I don't have a clue about what's going on.

Regards,
Callista

See y'all next month when I get the new comp configured.

Welcome! Just ask any questions about how to get the game up and running on your new computer. If we don't have the answer here, it's bound to be found on either the Hala or Avlis forums.

See you soon!

you need to register for the alpha server too I think!
Today you will suddenly realize how sensuous pudding can be. This will mark a turning point in your life.

Here's where I proclaim the first of many steps away from ignorance (or the journey towards knowledge, depends on if you're "glass half empty or half full" kind of person.

"Alpha server?" What dat? No rush, new comp's still on order.

And, I find the answer by stumbling around. Thanks Ronan. I've bookmarked the page for Arkhaz Alpha.

Thanks Zandel, I may take you up on that. Appreciate the offer. Also I received a PM from a nice person offering assistance and asking my time zone. I'm Central US, but I'm something of a night owl, also pursuing an edumacation (yes I deliberately spelled it like that) in a field that will require lots of intense training at any time of day, and to take a break from study I just might pop on to get beat up by some Half-Orc mobs at any time of day.

I should ask if the Arkaz server is designed with particular classes in mind? When I staggered into Avlis a long time ago, there were 4 approved player classes. I of course said "Damn the torpedoes I wanna play a Ranger."

I'd like to avoid that aggravation this time around. Are NPC quests on the server designed with a pre-determined set of player classes?

Not really that I can think of. not sure why a Ranger would have caused you aggravation, you can play whatever you like. There will always be dungeons that are harder or easier for certain builds, but there is a lot of content of varying difficulty.

Some prestige classes (Dragon Disciple comes to mind) require Team permission in advance though.
