Idea for the old hamlet

Post by Zombie » Sun Aug 01, 2010 8:18 pm

The three bards who hang out and practise their music. It would be super neat for there to be a script so you can pay them to play a song. The background music could change to something selected from a random list, and return to normal a bit later.

I've been working on so much scripting for my NWN2 class that I MIGHT be able to do this. I think I'll take a look at it, it's an adorable idea.

I know short segments of music can be added to NWN. What format they take, I do not know (like .mp3 or .wav). I played for a while in another persistent world where we had LOtR as the background music in one section.

Really wish we could add some new music to the game.

I can't remember offhand what type the NWN music files are, I'm in work and would have to check in the NWN folder at home. I think it's .bmu or something, but I'm not entirely sure. However, I browsed around to convert mp3s to that file for another custom world we once had with a few friends and there are some tools around on the Web that allow you to do that and add them to your modules. I'd imagine the files would have to be submitted to the Team and then players would have to download the music pack to hear the new music IG, but it's doable. I remember Hades had tons of similar custom music, too.

*giggles*

I'd love to add "Dark Crystal", "LOtR", and some other Medieval music. Ooo.. nice Gregorian chants for the Temples.

Hades had a custom music hak that you needed to download to get the music. I think there was a place holder hak for if you didnt want to though. I seem to recall it had some planescape: torment music in it.

Im hanging out for some sea shanties :D

Honestly, I'll start by seeing what I can do with just what's in the game, for now. No sense in making people download new music for something that may or may not even work. :)

If you'd like some new ~mood music~ though, look up Lincolnshire Posey, it's one of my favourites.

I've got some good sea chanty songs. There's a group of my friends called "Clam Chowder". They do all kinds of good songs, not just sea chanties. I wish I could upload some of their songs so folks could hear them.

And Steeleye Span has some good songs too. "Saucy Sailor" is one of my favorites.

Sea chanties?
... dig up some Great Big Sea... they generally focus on Newfoundland, Canada, folk songs (that they do their own way, but in keeping with traditional instruments and such)... and Newfoundland is an island, with a culture based on fishing and the sea. You're bound to find some great songs there!
