Deities don't necessarily require a person to speak to hear their prayers. Other actions, emotions and thoughts are all alternate means. We, as a world would never impare a PC permanently with such a drastic infliction as losing a tongue. The challenge is finding the way to resolve the problem.Dusk_Strider wrote:Sorry if what I am about to say may seem to be written out of anger, but it is out of curiousity, now if I may impose in this.. I have read already that the only reason Kay was brought back to Hala is so she can play out her backstory, a prequel pretty much. Now keep in mind that Kay was intact, meaning if she was talking in the present time, then how could that be happening if she got her tongue cut out during the prequel? I mean, I can understand if she was at one time captured by the drider, and that she was brutally tortured for the longest time due to the capture, but Kay's now removed tongue heavily affects the character, now the only way she could communicate with people is with notes, and this is only if the character has the intelligence to read and/or write.
That being said, I now also know and heard that the only way Kay can get her tongue back is by the help of a deity. That would require prayer, now I am unsure if prayers can be made through notes, or only through voice, but it seems now very, very difficult to do now, since Kay being a drow would almost immediately shun her from above, and keeping her in hiding. During the night of my chars wedding, Kay was also able to talk, so her tongue is still attached.
I am now very curious, please tell me how Kay is intended to get her tongue back? By deitic intervention? Or will this event be done over and consider Kay's removal of her tongue as non-canon (never happened). I realize there are only very few 'good' drows, some maybe half inspired by Drizz't Do'Urden, but it doesn't mean the one the character belongs to was trying to copy Drizz't's exact personality. And who is to clarify one RP'er as another? Who's to say that every RP'er has a chance of making a mistake? Yes maybe in the beginning, but Kay's RP'er seems quite seasoned on roleplaying, and has a solid personality to add to Kayla, it didn't seem to me to be copying Drizz't what so ever.
This was my part of the above statement, thanks for taking the time to read it...
As I stated, I wasn't directly linking Kayla to being a Drizzt style Drow, just that it's been seen before by us and is not something we wish to see again.
A lot of presumptions are being made in regards to this and unfortunately, many are incorrect, which is what leads to situations like this in the first place. Please put a little faith into teams in that certain routines and actions are in place for specific reasons, almost always based on past experiences.
I've heard plenty of good comments about Kayla as a player, so personally, I don't want to see her go any more than any of you.
Edit: Seems my typing's slow again  Glad to see you changed your mind about leaving, Kayla.

Ah, I have been wondering of the deities for a time a bit before this happened as well, so thank you for giving me an answerPsye wrote:Deities don't necessarily require a person to speak to hear their prayers. As for what you stated, it is understandable regarding the whole playing a drow inspired by Drizz't idea. And I am sorry if the info I have heard was inaccurate, I have faith though

Anyway, it is good you're not leaving Kay. Looking forward to RP with you again *smiles*

I agree details and honestly, this thread, aren't the place for stressing over this, sorry. Was more of an attempt to be supportive, and indicate a reason behind the primary aswitch on Tinker's Home-away-from-home. If indeed it's something that CAN be "dealt with", Hala is the place to do so
Sorry for the confusion there.

Kayla, Im very sorry your expereriance has been left you feeling sour. In my opinion.. Strictly from me goin through it.. I think you have had it pretty easy side from the whole tongue thing.. When I made Elly she was a choatic evil character following lolth. Very soon after I was playing her I decided to take her good. So I "went to the surface" so to speak. At first, I was being hunted by my family and all the other drow houses. Every encounter usually sending me to the halls. I get my things and tuck tail run and hide. Then once i started walking around the surface some hunted me for being dark skinned. Again all encounters usually leading to my death me commoing back geting my things and running away. My point Kayla is this. Im STILL hunted to this day. Im a good drow on the surface. Not everyone likes having a drow around good or bad. I expected to die. I expected never to be liked. But that is just me, again very sorry this experience has been negative on you. Give it another shot ? The team does try very hard and im sure no beingc aware of this they may takes things slightly different. Im not saying they should. That is there call and yours. I guess im masocistic because i enjoyed my driderdom.. Anyways my $.o2 look forward to seein you
