Islands is refusing to let me log in or transfer to it. Same problem as described above; says attempting to log in, never gets there.

Iron is working.

Just thought I'd chime in with a few concerns.

This problem has been going on for a while now (I think from about the time the servers moved from Terror) and it is quite a pain. It does not seem to be an issue with the servers being down, but rather just an access problem to the servers. And this doesnt seem to be isolated to just a couple players, but rather most players (at least many of the ones I have talked to). It also effects both the Islands and the Iron server.

Is there anything that can be done to solve this long term? This cannot be good for encouraging other players to play here on Arkaz. I'm sure any new players who want to try Arkaz for the first time will not sit and try to relog in 8 or 10 times. Even if they do, they still are not always going to be able to log in. It is also frustrating to players who may only have an hour or two window to jump on and play as we soon find that we wont be able to get on the server then.

this is just strange. I'm getting no errors on the server side, it's brand new hardware...everything seems to be perfect yet it needs a restart every few days......sigh

Terry, I don't know if this helps or if it makes it more confusing, but I was able to log onto the Islands server about an hour after I wrote that post, and I don't think the server had been reset. It's almost like there's some condition that causes it to be unavailable for a time (and not the master server, like much later last night!).

(I'm thinking the server caved in and let me log because I threatened to hit it with a fish....never can be too sure!)

I could log into iron with hardly no problems yesterday with the dm client. But getting into Nuvar took the usual 5 - 10 tries.

I got on to Iron this morning and left the server for a while and came back and now I cant get onto either one.

Server restarted, strange thing is...everything works fine for about 2 days, on the Third day we start to get connection problems....nothing seems unusual, there are no errors in the logs, hardware seems fine, nothing in the event logs....just off and on again connection issues.

Your ISP may have something in place to prevent static connections from staying open for too long at a time, particularly if you are not using a business account. I can not say that this is true, but I can think of any number of reasons they might feel the need to do this. You might also be running into their performance throttling protocals, meant to discorage heavy users from hogging bandwidth. Again, this is all conjecture, but if you've exhausted all other explanations..

ISP better not be an issue, I pay for a Business Class Connection, it cost me about 3 times what we'd normally pay but it's the only way to get a static address. I might move things over to the backup server and rebuild the guest image.
