In Character Perceptions

The BOSS wrote:...First, I keep hearing that Arkaz is an evil world that never lets good win.. I'd like for someone to point out to me a mojor plot where evil beat good in the end. I looked and I cannot find one...
Damn shame the boss locked his post. There is some stuff there I would like to expound on. Specifically, in character perceptions.

We all have to act in character. We respond to what happens in character. If it gets taken out of character, we need to review the situation.

As the boss said, evil has not "won" any major plots recently. However, some fairly evil methods were used to finish several world changing plots. For example, Nuvar allied with Yamman, who brought demons and undead to fight for it's survival. Arkaz natives attacked Avengers of Dru'el who were here and who attacked those same demons/undead on sight. These are evil actions.

If your character is having issues with the increasingly evil friendly environment of Arkaz, then you need to handle it in character. If you are feeling, OOCly, that the pro-evil environment of Arkaz is negatively impacting your fun, then contact the Team with your concerns.

Keep in mind that the pro-evil environment of Arkaz is NOT a bad thing. The ultimate goal is for everyone to have fun. Even though many of the characters that are most active are of an evil alignment, thier players are really nice people. More communication will make things better.

I flat out do not agree Arkaz is Pro evil or Pro Good.

We are Pro Player and what the players choose to do in character. Period.

We aren't mindreaders or gods. We only play them in game.

If any player wants to do anything in or about a plot, contact the team, even if you aren't sure how to be involved. If you don't do that, please don't complain behind our backs or rant to other people who are not involved. That's called Gossip and you contribute and create problems instead of contributing to solutions.

ps. to: AdmVenge - you are off on a lot of details about a plot you were not a part of. If you have questions on the plot, please PM me. Thanks.

I have no questions. This in character perception. You seem to have trouble grasping that.

The in character perception is that Arkaz is pro-evil. My good character will not be returning to Arkaz at any point in the near future. Alot of good character are staying off Arkaz because of this in character perception. This needs to be handled in character.

I believe the reason this was brought up is because people were complaining OOCly. Your post here suggests that Arkaz is pro-evil from an OOC standpoint for what happened. If this was not your intention, you may wish to clarify.

I can think of a lot of IC perceptions of characters and places that just aren't true, among them a whole cast of nonevil characters that people think are evil. This is not the issue. :D

Huh. The title of the thread is "in character perceptions". I mentioned some stuff that has been circulating in character as the reasons that some characters believe Arkaz to be evil. I suppose I could have prefaced that these are what my character was ICly told. I apologize for any confusion.

I had an IC conversation on Taris'nadur about slavery in Nuvar. Taris'nadur. The total other opposite end of CoPaP. Could someone be selling a few slaves to Yamman Arda? Possibly. Nuvar currently has an IC reputation for being evil. My character reacts to this information.

The problem is the IC/OOC line is blurring. This happens alot. Redgardless of actual in game events, characters talk. Things get muddled. When you take that information OOC, it causes this stress. I think it is very much the issue, because this inaccurate in character information is being taken OOCly and looked at as actual in game events.

Not only that, if you are allowing the in character perception to make you feel uncomfortable, then you need to talk to the Team. Dont talk to your buddy in IRC, send a PM to the boss.

"Good often stands near to evil – like silent chessmen – side by side. Only the color of the squares is different." – C.S. Lewis

I had to add one of my favorite quotes. :)

That is a pretty cool quote. What's the rest of the statement around it?

IC all of my PCs adhear to the ruling of Nuvar that all PCs good, evil or neutral are to be treated the same weather they be natives or visitors, Unless the nuvar laws are broken. So evil visitors are treated aswell as the celestrial army does when they visit. This means that the lizard folk are treated aswell as all the other visitors from avlis weather they serve Dru-el, Malika or any other of there gods. Yamman Arda is a realm that has collided with the isle of Arkaz. As we are ajoining principalitys we strive to keep a semblance of peace. If all this means we are pro-evil too you, I am shore that was not our intent. We are a nation of tollerance.

P.S. sorry for the many mispellings, I hope my intended thoughts are understood.
good tactics will always win over sheer numbers
