Okay, I don't have Vista myself, but it is not the first time I have heard that games that are developed for the older Windows versions won't work at all or not as desired under the newest version of it.

From the official NWN forums I got the tip to try the Windows XP compatibility mode. Another problem might be missing rights for some stuff. Remember under XP and before most people just do everything with admin rights.

If that all doesn't help you could see whether you can use the old XP on the new box or install Linux on it parallel to Vista. Yes NWN runs on Linux.

Good luck.

Is the compatability mode the lowest graphics setting?

The game runs fine. It's just the graphics are really messed up. When I bumped the setting up to 32mb or higher it makes all the characters look like the T3000 from terminator  . On 16mb or the 16mb compatability mode it gets rid of the metallic look, but then everything gets really dark. I turned up the number of dynamic lights and it helped a little right around the character but not much. From what I've heard from some people and read on differant forums, NWN's, and atari's, it's a compatability issue between NWN, Vista, and the graphics card. I checked the drivers for the card and they are the latest one. I think we're just going to have to wait till Micrsoft makes Vista accept more graphics cards.

I thought about buying a new graphics card, to replace the generic one that came installed, but i don't think it will really help if the problem is Vista.
