Leaving for awhile
It finally has reached a point through all this so called 'rp' on hala that I simply left Arkon a message to delete Kayla. I am all for challanging a character and making them face hardships to overcome but one right after the other all piled up, constantly being attacked by things you have no hope of fighting and being one shotted over and over is not my idea of a good plotline.
Thies past five or so days has managed to kill all the enjoyment I had rping a character that I leagely made with the help of a hala Dm, then all this came up near seven months later. I wasnt at fault but I agreed to do this prequal so everyone would be happy. If I had known this is how things would go I simply would of taken the vault ban from hala and been done with it.
I would like to think all thoues on Arkaz who have been so great to rp with and made each day I loged in somthing I looked foward to, you all were some of the best people I have ever rped with. I turely hope none of you ever half to go through somthing like this.
*big hugs* My contact information is in my profile here for any who would like to keep in touch, but at this point I really dont have it in me to start over again on a new character I dont think. Mabby eventually I will change my mind.
Untill then, game on

Having heard it all just a few minutes ago IG, I have to say this sounds shameful on the part of this event. I really wish this didn't end up happening to you, of all people.
And upon your return too no less! You were amongst one of my favorite people to RP with, and I really hope you change your mind, I would have really loved to see Kayla in Arkaz again...
See you on MSN hopefully... *cries and hugs*

It really disheartens me to hear what has happened to your incentive to play. Give it some time and get away from the game for a bit. I really enjoyed playing with your character but if you make one on Arkaz it will still be the same player behind the character and that is who we really want around.

Wheee... the Plotwagon strikes again *SIGHS* I for one find it... disturbing... to see DMs and staff on one server dictating terms to those on another. Then to follow it up with this kind of thing.... *sighs* I like Hala. I liek Hala's players. I likem, personally, several of Hala's DMs. I do NOT LIKE Hala's official plotwagoning policy. I've seen it happen more than once, and this is likely the last straw for me too. Heh. Which I guess means Arkaz gains Tinker as a regular visitor
But the way seriously gratuitous attacks are made to FORCE specific outcomes is the antithesis of RP. I liek RP. I do NOT like pretending to play a character that's forced into being a puppet in a story someone else wants to write.
Really do hope you come back Kay, I miss RPing with ya, but then, you know that

I was going to keep away from this thread, but as Hala team, I'm afraid I feel I have to comment here
If the way Kayla was dealt with was considered 'heavy-handed', then it's something that can be addressed and hopefully fixed. No-one wants to drive players off worlds that aren't problematic.
The biggest problem here is that the Drow on Hala are evil. They are a malicious, vindictive and down right torturous race with a cronic superiority complex. Now, take that arrogance and level of egotism, then turn it into an 8 legged freak of a creature with only a mild grip on sanity, with a thirst for humanoid blood and a seriously dangerous inferiority complex. Now you have Drider.
No-one should ever trust a drow they don't know and should kill a drider on sight. There's no middle ground here. This is how it should be.
There is a rule in place that any 'good' drow made on Hala is to be approved by Arkon. Not many are approved because they should be an incredibly rare occurance. This rule is in place because of the amount of metagaming and cheese that we've seen in the past. People wanting to make Drizzt or just playing a drow because of the very nice adjustments they get. I'm not saying that this was the case with Kayla, just that it's been the case in the past.
When turned into a drider, the PC should become one of the most hated things around and kill on sight to pretty much the entire server. Fun? Maybe not initially, but the reward at the end of it is the fact that you've earned the right to play a 'good' drow. This massive blow to the PC is ruined as soon as other players decide that they recognise the PC and suddenly become their best friend. It makes a mockery of any attempt at the 'good' drow being earned at all. It shouldn't take dm's to have to do all the killing. It should be the other players. The RP involved should be that of tension, hatred and disgust, not happiness and understanding - at least not until it's earned.
With the played responses seen on this occasion and previous ones, it's unlikely that any other 'good' drow will come out of Hala for a very, very long time.[/quote]
There is no such policy in effect at all. Some DM's are very flexible and their plots will change as they go, whereas some prefer to have their plots laid out beforehand and to lead the PC's in the relevent direction. This has been the same on all worlds that I've ever played on where I've been involved with DM interactions.Timdalos wrote:I do NOT LIKE Hala's official plotwagoning policy

Sorry if what I am about to say may seem to be written out of anger, but it is out of curiousity, now if I may impose in this.. I have read already that the only reason Kay was brought back to Hala is so she can play out her backstory, a prequel pretty much. Now keep in mind that Kay was intact, meaning if she was talking in the present time, then how could that be happening if she got her tongue cut out during the prequel? I mean, I can understand if she was at one time captured by the drider, and that she was brutally tortured for the longest time due to the capture, but Kay's now removed tongue heavily affects the character, now the only way she could communicate with people is with notes, and this is only if the character has the intelligence to read and/or write.
That being said, I now also know and heard that the only way Kay can get her tongue back is by the help of a deity. That would require prayer, now I am unsure if prayers can be made through notes, or only through voice, but it seems now very, very difficult to do now, since Kay being a drow would almost immediately shun her from above, and keeping her in hiding. During the night of my chars wedding, Kay was also able to talk, so her tongue is still attached.
I am now very curious, please tell me how Kay is intended to get her tongue back? By deitic intervention? Or will this event be done over and consider Kay's removal of her tongue as non-canon (never happened). I realize there are only very few 'good' drows, some maybe half inspired by Drizz't Do'Urden, but it doesn't mean the one the character belongs to was trying to copy Drizz't's exact personality. And who is to clarify one RP'er as another? Who's to say that every RP'er has a chance of making a mistake? Yes maybe in the beginning, but Kay's RP'er seems quite seasoned on roleplaying, and has a solid personality to add to Kayla, it didn't seem to me to be copying Drizz't what so ever.
This was my part of the above statement, thanks for taking the time to read it...
